Michael Cohen May Be The Biggest Fish the Prosecution Hooked In Their Investigation into Collusion Between the Trump Campaign and Russia
It’s about to get quite stormy for President Donald Trump and his legal defense team. According to a bombshell report by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Trump’s attorney and so-called “fixer” Michael Cohen is being dropped by his high-profile law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery. The move, per ABC, is a precursor to Cohen cooperating with federal prosecutors:
As attorneys for Michael Cohen rush to meet Judge Kimba Wood’s Friday deadline to complete a privilege review of over 3.7 million documents seized in the April 9 raids of Cohen’s New York properties and law office, a source representing this matter has disclosed to ABC News that the law firm handling the case for Cohen is not expected to represent him going forward.
The report continues:
Cohen, now with no legal representation, is likely to cooperate with federal prosecutors in New York, sources said. This development, which is believed to be imminent, will likely hit the White House, family members, staffers and counsels hard.
‘If Anyone Can Blow Up Trump, it’s (Cohen)’
News of the legal shakeup and likely cooperation comes just one day after Vanity Fair reported that the attorney expected to be arrested “any day now” and that was causing great consternation in the West Wing:
Trump allies view the legal cloud hanging over Trump’s former attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, as at least as ominous as the obstruction investigation. According to a source close to Cohen, Cohen has told friends that he expects to be arrested any day now. (Reached for comment, Cohen wrote in a text message, “Your alleged source is wrong!”) The specter of Cohen flipping has Trump advisers on edge. “Trump should be super worried about Michael Cohen,” a former White House official said. “If anyone can blow up Trump, it’s him.”
The Trump legal team is in the midst of a campaign to besmirch Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Election. Rudy Giuliani, acting as Trump’s attorney, has viciously and frequently attacked the probe as a “witch hunt”, all the while admitting that his strategy is to discredit Mueller.
This cooperation and/or testimony should, along with the many other figures who have been indicted, plead guilty or cooperated in the investigation, should easily show the public just how obscene and ridiculous Giuliani’s claims are.
